Intuitive Interface

Engineered with the user in mind, the BIOne 250 boasts a feature-rich intuitive interface derived from the award winning BIOne 1250. This design simplifies operation, allowing you to focus on the science, not the setup.

Visually inspect your run
Automate time-based feeds and parameter setpoint shifts
Event notes: document anomalies and highlight specific time points, with entries included in the exported data
Monitor and analyze trends across up to eight parameters

Remote Operation

With remote control via PC, laptop or external monitor (touchscreen or wired with mouse), the BIOne 250 delivers precise control and comprehensive monitoring of multiple bioreactors from a single interface, whether inside or outside the lab.

Connects to a remote PC, laptop or monitor via Ethernet or HDMI
Configured with a unique static IP for browser-based control; no internet needed
Operate multiple controllers simultaneously from one central computer

Fixed-Speed Pumps

Three fixed-speed pumps.

Pulsing (on/off) cycle control to achieve variable flow rates
Operate via process cascades or manual input
Add an external pump through the additional I/O interface

Rotameters for Gas Control

One or two rotameters for gas control.

One rotameter and one gas

Rotameters are manually set to maximum process flowrate
Valves cycle on/off based on DO setpoint and current reading

Stay on Target: Improving Process Control through Strategic Cascade Feedback Loop Tuning

In this work, we present an overview of the operation of cascade controllers. We discuss the utility of such systems within upstream bioprocess manufacturing. We then demonstrate this utility with a practical application example. We execute a model process under different sets of cascade configurations and record both the magnitude of pH fluctuations and volumes of pH adjustment media required to maintain setpoint throughout the process duration. Results of this study demonstrate the potential for improved process control though iterative cascade loop tuning. Scientists and engineers might consider adopting the techniques outlined in this study to evaluate and improve cascade feedback control within their own bioprocess applications. The Significance of PID Tuning within Biopharmaceutical Processes

The intent of this information is to provide foundational knowledge of the subject matter to support PID tuning efforts within biopharmaceutical laboratories. We conclude this work with a practical example that demonstrates the benefits of PID tuning. In this application example, heating regression PID parameters for a highly complex upstream process model are optimized using a closed-loop feedback tuning method.
